ABOUT ABOUT

The Casimir Trio has been an established chamber ensemble of 1807 & Friends for more than
twenty years, performing the great piano trio repertoire of three centuries and championing new
works. Violinist Nancy Bean joined The Philadelphia Orchestra in 1983 and served as Assistant
Concertmaster from 1986 until 2009, when she retired to devote herself to chamber music. An
active chamber musician, she is Artistic Director of 1807 & Friends and founded and is first
violinist of the Wister Quartet. Lloyd Smith, violoncello, joined The Philadelphia Orchestra in
1967 and was its Acting Associate Principal cellist before retiring in 2003 to devote himself to
chamber music and composing. He is cellist of the Wister Quartet and a member of 1807 &
Friends chamber ensemble. Pianist Marcantonio Barone has performed as soloist with major
orchestras on four continents and his recitals have drawn worldwide acclaim. He serves as head of
the piano department and assistant director of the Bryn Mawr Conservatory of Music, where he
has taught since 1980, and teaches piano and chamber music at Swarthmore College.
